About the Painting

Water Creek Baby captures the tender innocence of a rescued wombat joey.
With soft washes of color and delicate details, I wanted to show his gentle curiosity — the way he looks at the world with trust and wonder, as if every little moment is new and magical.

Backstory

This little wombat is inspired by Eric, the joey I personally sponsored at Water Creek Wildlife Rescue in Australia.
When he was rescued, he was tiny, fragile, and in need of constant care. Thanks to the dedication, patience, and love of the rescuers, Eric grew into a bright-eyed, playful, and wonderfully expressive little boy.

Painting him felt like painting a piece of my heart — a tribute to all the rescued wombats and to the incredible people who give them a second chance at life.
